ATCO Electric is pleased to offer programs and information to educate the public about the hazards of electricity.

Teaching Power

Teaching kids about electricity is important. That is why we teamed up with Alberta teachers to design a school resource program for delivery in Alberta classrooms. Our award-winning school program is designed to teach kids in Grades four to six about how electricity is generated and delivered in Alberta, how to be safe around electricity and how kids can help conserve electricity.

The program features a "Louie the Lightning Bug" safety video and optional safety presentation by ATCO Electric employees.

The material in this comprehensive program was developed specifically to fit the Alberta curriculum and is offered free to schools in our service area.

Visit the Teaching Power section.

Seven Steps to Electrical Safety

Within its service area, ATCO Electric provides information and demonstrations about the hazards of contacting energized high voltage lines. The presentation includes an overview of the Seven Steps for Electrical Safety program. The real-life demonstration includes some shocking visual effects that drive home the terrible consequences of making contact with an energized power line.

For more information about the ATCO Electric Seven Steps to Electrical Safety program or the High Voltage Hazard Display, contact us.
