The following table shows typical energy prices for billing periods
up to, and including June 30, 2004. As of July 1, Direct Energy Regulated
Services is providing regulated rate electricity to all customers in
the ATCO Electric service territory. For more information about regulated
rate electricity after June 30, please visit

Individual streetlights do not have electric meters. So, to calculate how much energy each uses,
two factors are used:
The bulb’s wattage. A 200-Watt bulb uses twice the energy that a 100-Watt bulb would.
The number of hours of darkness. Lights are on for more hours during the winter.
The energy charge for street and sentinel lights was typically lower than for other customers, because they use much of their energy during the off-peak hours through the night. These are times when demand is lower and so are market prices for electricity.
