Fire Prevention Week Partners

ATCO Electric and ATCO Gas are committed to the safety of individual Albertans and their communities.  Both companies are in partnership with the Alberta Fire Commissioner's Office and support National Fire Prevention Week, October 7 to October 13, 2007.

ATCO specifically supports the Children's Program which sees fire departments across Alberta partner with elementary schools and other community organizations to deliver critical life safety educational information to children in Kindergarten to Grade Three, and their families.

"We take safety very seriously at ATCO Gas and strive to create safety awareness among the public as well," says Jerome Engler, ATCO Gas President.  "This partnership aligns with a key area of focus for us - education and prevention programs that promote safety in the home and at work."

The key element for the program is the development and distribution of a fire safety activity booklet and corresponding lesson plan for Alberta school teachers.  Additional elements include an advertising campaign, posters and Fire-Chief-for-a-day contest.
