Both the generating customer and ATCO Electric have responsibilities related to metering:
-
The generating customer is responsible for installing the electric meter to measure active energy and reactive energy flowing
out of the producing facility to the distribution system. ATCO Electric retains the right to obtain this data for internal and external use. It must be made available in a form that is compatible with the Transmission Administrators interval data format.
-
ATCO Electric will install an electric meter to measure power, active energy and reactive energy used for on-site load. The generating customer retains the right to obtain this metering data for internal use.
Where agreeable between ATCO Electric and the Generating customer, one physical bi-directional metering device may be used to fulfill both responsibilities.
The Generating customer is responsible for appointing or acting as a Meter Data Manager
(MDM) and providing data to the the Load Settlement Agent (LSA) in conformance with the System Settlement Code
(SSC). This meter data collection process is documented in the manual below.
As well, metering information regarding power production must be submitted to the Transmission Administrator in the format specified in the Transmission Administrators document Practices for Management and Transfer of Metering Data or subsequent replacement documents. Metering and data transfer must conform to the Transmission Administrator Metering Standard.
Additional metering information for generating customers can be found in Section 4.0 of the
Generator Interconnection Manual.
